NEWS FLASH: We've had a heat wave! This morning we were up from yesterday's 23 degrees below zero to a high today of 11 degrees below zero!!!!!! :-)

Gwen- You asked about the animals in cold weather. Most people who have outside cats or dogs plug in a heat lamp for their animals (usually in a garage) or will add lots of fresh straw inside their dog house. OUR cats and dog are let inside the house! (They are trained indoor/outdoor animals but in this frigid weather it doesn't take long for a pet to get frost bitten ears so we keep them in the house.) They let us know when they need to go out- but are scratching at the door to be let back in after 3 minutes outside!!! Large livestock animals are usually shielded from the raw winds in a barn. A herd of livestock can make a barn toasty warm in short order! Let's face it: raw winds & frigid weather like we've been having is not fit for man nor beast!

FYI- all the days of school we miss...get tacked onto the end of school. Presently, we will be going at least six more days after our original school dismissal date.

I went to four different stores, but finally found some! I have conversation hearts, and oreo-like cookies, but I might have repeated a fabric that Sewcarolyn has...candies like in a valentine's day box....I could find all kinds of fruits and veggies. I will wash mine up today and send them out asap.

I'll probably mail these tomorrow..boy, these fabrics are harder to find than I thought! I'm glad I joined this swap, because I can't imagine trying to find enough different fabrics to complete a quilt without swapping!! Some of the fabric on line is WAY out of my price range. Saw one for $5 for a 7" square!

Does anyone have a good 'jar' pattern? I saw one at LQS, but it was emroidered. It looked really cool, but I need something in my skill range (one without a special machine).

oh repeats of fabrics will be fine I am sure. My baggies are not all the same so only a few will duplicates of the chocolate box.

I found a pattern this weekend at the quilt show that I love it isn't a jar pattern though. I started cutting for it last night and can't wait to get these sweet fabrics to add to it. It uses food in 9.5x9.5 squares, 6.5x6.5 squares, 4.5x6.5 rectangles and 4.5x4,5 squares. Since it calls for 42 of the 4.5 squares and 24 of the rectangles I plan on using the fabric from this swap for those pieces. I am so excited! I have so much food fabric left from aprons that I can use in this pattern too, cheese, pasta, coffee etc that this will put a small dent in my Food Fabric collection. Any of the fabric I trim off will become a crazy quilt hot mitt :)

fun fun fun

oh at the quilt show I bought potato chip fabric for my quilt too :) I will post the cover of the quilt pattern as soon as I find it on a web site for sale or scan the cover tonight. It is fun

Greeting to all!! I finally was able to brave the frigid weather to make a trip to the post office. They are on their way with delivery confirmation. Mine include candy corn (stolen from my Halloween collection), Christmas candy assortment (taken from my Christmas fabrics), candy hearts which I found with Valentine fabrics in my LQS and two different kinds of gum drops. Anxious to see all yours.....Always in stitches..Susan
