Re: fleece blanket
1. Layer the two pieces of fleece wrong size together, the size you want the quilt to be.
2. Cut 6" square out of each corner of both pieces of fleece.
3. Make fringe around all sides of both pieces by cutting 6" into fleece at 1" intervals.
4. Tie (I double tie) fringe pieces together using one strand from the top and one from the bottom to tie each knot.
Tie together along all four sides.
If you want longer fringe, cut the same size square from each corner as the length you cut the fringe. Ex: 8" fringe strip, cut 8" square from each corner.

Re: fleece blanket
Don't forget to cut off the selvage edge, it makes a nicer looking blanket.

Re: fleece blanket
I use a 4" fringe and for babies although it is tougher to tie, I use a 3". For my preteen-teenage grandsons I use two yards of each. A good size seeing as several of the boys are tall drinks of water. I used to use the measuring board for the spacing but not I have done so many I just guess.

Re: fleece blanket
These are fun to make and everyone always likes them. I've made several for my nieces & nephews. One tip: if the fleece has a print with words, make sure the right side is facing up, if it's the top layer, or down, if it's the bottom layer when you are tying the fringe. I made that mistake once and all the words were backwards, but my kind nephew said it's ok, it's right when he looks at in a mirror. LOL I wasn't about to untie all of those knots to fix it.

Re: fleece blanket
I had done these before and tied double knots to tie the two layers together. But I recently saw a video and the woman 'tied them like a balloon'. Just taking both layers together and tying an overhand knot, I think it looked much better and the fringe was lying flatter. I am planning on doing one of these for my son and will use this new method.

Re: fleece blanket
Jan, don't be scared of fleece, it's much easier to work with than you might think. It doesn't ravel, which is very nice, no need to finish seams, and actually goes through the machine pretty easily.
Have fun!
