Alina, I'm not *that* fast, it took me a couple hours to get one block done...LOL!

I really love paper piecing, though, and have done a good bit of it before, so there was no hesitation or worry about the technique. And, I was able to find fabrics I liked in stash pretty easily.

Mary, go slow with that first PP project. It will be alot easier if you choose fabrics that do NOT have a directional print. Found this out the hard way!

Got my tree done... wasn't TOOOOOOO painful! LOL! I too needed to cut my rough pieces bigger... made a few booboos... when putting piece 1 down I taped it right side up... the folded on the line to sew to see where it was going to be stitched... then laid the second piece right side down next to where I made the crease! Also it helps to have a VERY sort stitch... I made mine 1.0 in length! It helps to get the paper off later!!!
Cheers!

Here are a few of the snowflakes. They're all done, so will be in the mail no later than this Monday, the 23th.

Alina...your tree is wonderful and it will go great with the schoolhouses which I also forgot to flip before printing ;)

LOVE THE SNOWFLAKES!!!!! This is really going to be lovely.

I am going to wait and do my tree after I get the blocks. I want to make sure that I don't use the same blue that I sent Carol for the geese or the background from my school house (since there are 3 blues in those)

If you are paperpiecing like Alina said use a small stitch but also remember that you are dulling your needle and a little water on the paper helps to pull it away...

The blocks that are in are awesome! I am getting more excited all the time.

I have my tree pattern printed out and printed a couple of little patterns for practice before I start on it.

You all have given me some good pointers for making this block and I sure appreciate it.

DD1 and a special niece who quilts too, have seen this; both want one, thanks Alina for putting up all the blocks.

I told them I would help them make their own. At least I will have some idea of all the techniques involved now.

Beautiful blocks. I can hardly wait to get my packet and get busy on the quilt. I'm 'determined' to get this one completed before 12-31-09. LOL I need to regain control over the UFOs.

Alina, I just PM'd you for your snail addy. I'm sure you sent it before, but I forgot (brain fart) that messages are deleted after 30 days. Doh! Now that the s'flakes are done, I'll go work on the tree.
Deanne

PS - I left the blocks at about 13" so that each person can true up their block to fit their layout. No, it wasn't due to laziness (VBG) - it's just sometimes we need to 'tweek' a block to fit nicely.
