DWR Block Update

Post by rosebud3 » Tue Oct 28, 2008 7:58 am

Wanted to share some of my progress on DWR making for DD's wedding gift. So...... here are a couple of pix showing what I've done so far.

Rosebud, your blocks look good! Which pattern did you end up using? I have the fabric and am starting one in January. New Year's resolution! LOL Hope mine looks half as good! Are you planning to hand quilt??

I used the templates for Pickle Dish / DWR to cut back ground melon and diamond. Used wedge template and large triangle template (squared) from El's Egg Money Quilts pattern for the arcs and cornerstones. I am using El's method of assembly line sewing for piecing, and Sharlene Jorgenson's method of block assembly.

I was unable to afford the fusable interfacing and had to revert to everything being pieced together, lol. That is why I am using sooooooo many different methods.

I plan to hand quilt it because my machine is too small to get the quilt in the neck and I don't know anyone with a LA that I could use. If I had found someone who could help me refurbish my grandmothers Singer, I would use it for machine quiting it.

If you have other questions when you start yours feel free to pm me.
