Saw this link at another board.

I made a set of them yesterday and it was so quick!! Cutting and sewing 4 of them took about 30 minutes. Instead of the interfacing it calls for though I used some leftoever warm and natural batting. Will be making several more sets for christmas gifts. Haven't had a chance to take photos yet, but will post when I get around to it.

Yes, they do make nice hot pads. My friend bought a pattern in Paducah a couple of years ago and did a guild workshop on them.

I made about 40 of them last Christmas and keep making them all the time. Cute way to "decorate" for holidays too. I have used Warm and Natural too but I found that it doesn't absorb as much as other battings. I used Insulbrite to make a mat for the table to protect the wood from hot dishes. Last year My Husband and I gave these along with a coffee cup filled with peppermints to our classroom aides, the school office staff and to a few collegues. I am already being asked if that is our gift this year too

I also tucked them in Christmas Stockings and everyone was excited to use them on Christmas. No mixed up glasses that day at all and my furniture was safe from wet glasses.

Thank you I think I will give them a try for my nieces and a few friends they realy look cute and just maybe some hot matts but I think I will use insulbrite also .

Thanks for posting this. I had a charm pack of Moda and used it to make a set of coasters. I try to have a door prize for the quilting class I teach every month and this will be the prize. The set tied together with cord with some trinket decoration they look straight out of a catalogue.
