Here are a couple pics of a handbag I made out of some upholstery samples that a quilting friend shared with me. Your local furniture store throws out the samples every now and then. These were 4-1/2" salvagable fabric---handwashed them and dried them before using.
Calicopuzzle - That is really nice!! Did you invent the pattern or is it something we could buy?
My daughter works for an Interior Design firm. I once helped 'organize' the 'fabric library' and the owner offered me the outdated samples. I declined, but NOW I'm sorry I did!
Here is the link for the FREE PATTERN. I eliminated the knit motif on the front. Just did my squares as the pattern layout shows. I also used 4-1/2" blocks instead of the 5-1/2" squares. It takes 22 blocks for the pattern and it makes a bag plenty large enough.
Thanks, calicopuzzle! I've sent my daughter a message to save some of those samples. Would you like some, too? And I printed out the pattern from the website you provided. This forum is just the greatest for ideas and help!
