Thanks all....Linda, I use a 14 inch hoop. The thing is OLD and I keep being afraid its gonna crack, but I dont make it real tight. No, my hands dont get tired, probably because I play the piano and guitar and always have used them a lot so they are strong. Wish the rest of me was!!!

Caroline, it looks great. I like your hand quilting, too. Makes me want to finish hand quilting a log cabin that is tucked back in the closet - shame on me. So you are an inspiration.

Beautiful quilt!

Okay, I understand the masking tape to keep the stitching straight, but how do you manage such even stitches??? My attempts have been far from even -- that's why I am a believer in tying quilts.

Another question: Did you win some of these blocks in a lotto? I think I can see a block there that I made!

caroline1947 - I just checked past photos and you posted this quilt, before quilting on Sept.1 --OMGosh, does that mean it only took you 26 days to quilt and bind it???? WOW!!

How big is this quilt?? You did a beautiful job quilting and binding...and the layout is great!!!

I usually keep track of how many hours I quilt -- an average of 120 hours to hand quilt a queen size. Do you keep track???

No, it didnt take but a few nights. Its a good lap size. I made another one in between, and have it finished too. (The friendship Star, the post got lost). I quilt at night while I watch tv and it goes really fast. This one took about a week.

That's amazing! I use a quilting frame, which should make it go faster (you don't have to keep moving the hoop), so I'm just slow.
How many years have you been handquilting?
