Here's my card trick. I only used 3 colors because that is what the directions I used called for. Grama2davey, I really like your block with the 4 different colors.

Grandma2Davey pretty block!! Nice contrast!
gramajojo pretty fabric! What a generous thing to give your quilt away for charity.
I can't wait to do this block...I've been wanting to do this one, too, so this will be fun!

gramajojo, I love the fabrics you chose! I thought about just using 2 fabrics for the cards but I'm afraid I'm going to run short on some fabric.
Thanks, Joanne & Denise.

So glad Mary is all right! Gosh, the weather has been awful this year. I hope things return to normal for them soon! Thanks for posting this.
I've never made an Attic Window. I've tried lots of new things doing this fun sew along!

Hmmm. Attic Window. Always wondered if I could make one of those. I guess now I'll find out.

Hooray!
we finally have 'semi-power' the Electric guys (bless them) patched us a wire this morning, but it will be off and on until they an replace poles and restring lines.
the 'attic window' I had in mind is found in EQ5, it is a simple 9 patch,
Row 1 is 1 square background color, 2 squares your choice 1
Row 2 first square is HSTs in background and your choice 2, 1 background and HST square in color 1 and background
row 3 2 squares color 2 and one background.
I can't get my copy to come up and transfer for a picture - so just give it your best shot or subsstitute any block you might want. . .sorry about the glitch

Kaye Woods has a really easy fool-proof way of doing "Y" seams. You take the first 2 pieces and sew all the way to the end. No dots for the 1/4", just sew all the way. Then you put the third piece on and sew, with the needle down, right to the previous stitching. Sometimes, I have to pull the fabric just a little to get the needle to land right on the stitching. Then, with the needle down, rearrange the fabric so the last to edges are together and straight and sew to the end of that seam. Press and viola! you have a "Y" seam with no headaches and no stressing and, best of all, no unsewing. I have used this technique several times. The first time was kinda hard and it really doesn't makse sense until you play with it a couple times. Try it on some scraps and see if it works for you.
