I am going to give it a shot. Not sure how it will turn out.

dforseth, thanks so much for the link! That is better...I might attempt it now, too. It certainly is a pretty block, but I wasn't sure I could do it.

Joanne, your snowmen are beautiful! Love them! Where have you taken the pattern?

Debbie, thanks for the link! :-)

Mary, the Green Mountain Star is a beautiful block, there are lots of points in there. I'll give it a try too. Can't wait to see your block how it turned out!

Denise, there is a book called, "Comfort and Joy" by Mary Hickey from 2007. There are 6 different snowmen (plus a tree and a star). I just fell in love with them, I thought they had such sweet faces!

you all know this is a 'pick and stitch' and if you aren't comfortable with any block, it is fine to substitute another one, that is the good thing about this. I know not everyone has the same taste or ideas.

donnacrazylady, I love the way you are doing yours without the appliques! Your pics are beautiful! I am waiting to see yours all finished!

Cute snowmen-- I'm a big fan of snowmen, so I love your blocks! :-)

I have my patten printed out and hope to find some time to start on it--maybe today... I've got tons of unpacking and cleaning to do, but will need to take a break from that, anyway, so might as well use my break time to sew a little! ;-)

My main fear with this block is getting it to turn out the right size-- not even gonna try to hard to get the points right-- they'll be good enough to please me as I'm not a perfectionist... life's too short! LOL

And, we did get to hike to Green Knob (it wasn't Green Mountain after all), and it was beautiful! We had it all to ourselves... so nice!

majikmary, thank you for the compliment. Do you have plans in the future to do Double Necktie, Contrary Wife, Path and Stiles, Ohio Star, or Calico Puzzle patches? I don't want to do one as a substitute that you might pick later. Or maybe I shouldn't worry about it... Sometimes I think too much.

BamaGirl, I decided not to worry about the block turning out 12 1/2" exactly. As long as my seams are (reasonably) consistent, the blocks should all be about the same size. Since I'm not sending them to anyone else, they just have to work for me. :o)

The Green Mountain is beautiful and I'm going to make it!

Our little LQS is closing and everything is 50% off their already great prices. It has been so convenient to have a shop just a few blocks from my house. I will really miss having someone help me pick fabric and answer my questions. Despite the great deals I got yesterday, I am sad. Guess I'll go wash, dry, & iron my fabric and dream of more quilts.
