Tarajo, you also need to cut the squares at 4 7/8 to have them finish up at 4 1/2. When I first started making the HST, for the life of me I couldn't figure out why they kept coming up short. I was watching Simply Quilts one day and I know my Angel was making me sit and watch because they must have said that "you have to cut them larger" for them to come out right a half a dozen times and then gave the measurement. LOL

Everyone's blocks are just beautiful. So many pretty fabrics!!!!!

yea, i did cut to 4 7/8 but i still end up wonky.. i think part of the problem is i worked on it during lunch today so I probably rushed a bit too much... i might try another one in diff colors.. my daughter has a lot of pink and black she was going to use for a quilt a while ago, but she never got it going, so i may steal some of that and make her a sampler quilt... the block was fairly easy, i think i just need to take more time and be more patient

I'm really impressed with all the lovely photos I'm seeing. Personally, I like the wonky triangles, Tarajo! The colors and fabrics you're all choosing are really nice! Yes, Sewcarolyn, your fabrics not only look familiar, but they look perfect together! We shop good, don't we?

Now, Grandmajojo, how can we set up an apple pie swap? Just kidding, of course, but I'll bet there's not one quilter among us who didn't get the urge for some cinnamony apple pie after reading your note. Your house must smell heavenly! And don't worry about being late getting started, I haven't even decided what fabric to use yet!!! Talk about falling behind.

I cut my half square triangles at 5 inches and then square them down after sewing. They come out more accurately for me that way.
