New!!! 9-patch fun Pick & Stitch - Got a question for you all

Post by majik47 » Sat Sep 20, 2008 6:46 am

There has been a request for doing 3 blocks a month, in order to finish up before Christmas. What do you all think? Please let me know.

This is going to be a "PICK and STITCH', you pick the blocks you want to make and Stitch them at your leisure! - NO BLOCKS TO SWAP AND NO DEADLINES. It is up to you when to start and how many blocks you want to complete. The Quilt will have 20 traditional quilt blocks and 10 applique / embroidery blocks (optional, feel free to use a plain block). These are 12.5 unfinished blocks. A block will be released every 1st and 15th of the month. A link to the pattern will be provided. The finished size should be between a twin or full, but would be determined depending on your sashing and borders.

USE YOUR STASH FIRST. This could be a very nice Stash Buster project. So pick out a color palette and this a theme as well - get those fabrics and applique/embroidery patterns ready (civil war, 1930s, black & brights, yellow & blue, black and white, homespuns, pastels, batiks, scrappy). It will be so much fun to see the different fabric variations for this quilt. Please remember to post pictures - that’s half the fun.

THE FIRST BLOCK WILL BE RELEASED OCTOBER 1ST.

******Fabric SUGGESTION from majik47********
Feel free to do your own thing group, but I have in mind 4 colors, a few scraps that go with them and a sandy beige background for my "ocean'" theme.
You should not need more than 4 and a few scraps. One block uses 6 different colors, but they are not big pieces.
I am so happy that you all are coming into this with me!

sewcarolyn and crazyquilter81, our backup hosts have copies of the block lists.

I may try this. Probably use scrappy 1800 but may go with lavenders and greens.

Thank you Mary for taking this on. I was looking forward to doing this one since the other mystery swap was so much fun. But I still don't know my colors or theme....I'll wait until I see one or two of the blocks posted....maybe then I'll be able to pick!
