Heavens no, Cindy, you aren't bothering us with talking about this! I'm so stunned about it I just don't know what to say, this is huge! DH and I just went to the maps of the area and looked at where different places are where I have family and it just makes me sick! I feel so bad for you having to go thru this and I just don't know what to say except I love you and am praying for you and everyone there. The weather report we just saw, sketchy as it is online, sure did not look pretty, to say the least. The reports we just saw said that 40% did NOT leave and they estimated that approx. 24,000 people were still in Galveston. Boggles my mind.

No, my HQ16 is not set up yet. Jason got more bookcases put together and loaded up with fabric, and next he's going to set up Scarlett (HQ) in the main sewing room. I have a fabric nook room right off that room where I lined the walls with bookcases and then it goes on down the hall to other rooms. We were going great guns with setting everything up, and then we had a few bumps in the road that stalled us out. For one, Jason got a stomach bug for a couple days and was out of commission, and Shane injured himself, broke 3 ribs and threw his back out and his hip joints got knocked all out of whack! Dang, both my kids taken out in one fell swoop! LOL! So, I've been trying to work around things I can't lift, and as Murphy's Law goes...all that's left is things too heavy for me to move! LOL! It's really coming together a whole lot faster than I thought it would, though. But, MAW, it's sounding mighty good sending some boxes your way! LOL!

:)

Cidyg, as long as we can read your posts it makes me feel that we are still 'connected' to you. We'll be worried sick once we don't hear from you. I pray to God to have mercy upon anyone in thatt area.

To be honest with you, I felt disgusted with people who were complaining on the tv, saying 'they left Gustav's path for nothing'. Did anyone think about thanking God for being able to come back and their houses and families were still here? Sorry, sorry to go off an tangent like this. It was just SO frustrated to watch the news reports after Gustav left and None said "Thank God".

I'm getting grumpy here, cause I'm 'starving' to death. oooohhh,....Jeff's here with food.

Doei.....BBL

Pam, when you and your DH were looking at the map, did you find Cypress where I live? You can see that I live about 80 miles from Galveston to the northwest. The exact opposite side of Houston from where your relatives are. If you can find Channelview, that's where IowaGal's son is. They are saying the storm surge will go right up the ship channel. And along the ship channel is all the refineries.

Cindy, I agree with tulpje, as long as you're on here chatting with us we feel better! I hope your power isn't out for long when it does go down. I'll be sure to get pics of things, right now I don't have e-mail and until our cable is put in (supposedly Sept. 16th) I am living primitive! LOL! Boy, the way we take things for granted, you really miss it when it's gone, like TV! I don't watch much TV, but I do like to see the weather. I am so glad our friend loaned me his air card for the computer or I'd be climbing walls! LOL! But, I've been trying not to be on it too much because it is a loan. Even if I paid him for the usage, I don't want to be a greedy gut since he's been so generous.

Hi Everybody,
Glad to see everyone! The news here is all about the tragic train accident. It is really unbelieveable!! You cannot even see the Metrolink engine. It was shoved into the first passenger car. I am just hearing now they are bringing in cadaver dogs. I really had turned the TV on to find out about Ike. It was supposed to hit hours ago. How is Galveston fairing?

Yes, I did see where Cypress is on the map a min. ago. I was really surprised to see how close Friendswood was to Galveston Bay. You sent me a map of the area a day or so ago, but for some reason it didn't look that close when I looked at it, but tonight....wow, they really aren't that far away, are they? Boy, I sure hope it doesn't come ashore at Freeport like you were saying, that would change things for you a lot, huh? Cindy, I've told you this before, but just to repeat it...if things don't go as well as anticipated where you are, like if your power is going to be out for an extended period, etc... you have my numbers and know where I'm at...head to Georgia, girlfriend.

Tul, I agree with you whole-heartedly. You know, I don't feel sorry for the people who ignored the evacuation orders but I do feel sorry for their relatives and friends.

Uh-oh, I just heard the wind make my house creak. But, YEA, the power is still on.
