Big Board Photos

Post by SFOQuilter » Sun Aug 24, 2008 9:42 am

There was a thread about the Big Board last week and I thought I would post a pic of my new setup. DH ordered the Big Board for my upcoming birthday and I didn't like the way it sat on my ironing board - a little wobbly mostly due to the fact that I have carpet in the sewing room. I found this chest at Lowe's today and it seems to be a perfect solution (and WAY cheaper than the tower sets that the Big Board company sells). It was $54.88 and it came assembled. It is very steady now and I feel like ironing all day...well, maybe not but when I do have to do it it will be a lot easier. LOL

Oh, I am drooling over the Big Board! I have a vision of a cabinet with a large surface for cutting and pressing...on locking casters, so I can swing it out of the way if I need to.

I want my sewing room in our new place to double as a guest room, so I want some things to be mobile...maybe even a table that can be rolled into the closet?!

Carole...Are you saying that you have room in a closet that isn't full of farbics? Tisk! Tisk! I can't believe that ANYONE on the forum has a closet with that much room left! LOL! ~Abbigail~

Michelle that is so cool! Looks very sturdy and nice. And functional as well. You just never know what you may find in Lowe's that will be useful to a quilter. Enjoy.

What a great idea, is this cabinet wood or plastic? I am trying to decide how I want to set mine up, my DH is making mine but I can not decide on the base yet! I have also seen where some are set up on top of old dressers that have been refinished and that provides a lot of storage space also, think I may need to hit some garage sales and find the perfet one!

The base cabinet is plastic. I wanted to try it out before I invested in nicer cabinets. Let me tell you, I have so much fabric stored in there. I am thrilled. My sewing room is much neater now:)
