Re: OK - You Won't Believe This - Update
It never ceases to amaze me the levels some people will go to reach their own goals.
Sorry this had to happen it makes it hard for the rest of us that might want to enter next time.Unfortunatley a few people like that can ruin it for the rest of us.
Good luck I hope you get it straightened out to your satisfaction.

Stuff like that happens. I remember when we lived in Alabama, we had our boys in a private church school. Every year they would have statewide academic competitions. I was asked to help grade the children's papers. I thought it was just good practice that you were not allowed to grade the group that your child was in. But, I was told that there were problems in the past where parents were changing their children's answers! And these people were church goer's! I guess they counted on being forgiven on Sunday! So, if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere. Can you imagine being one of those children where your parents were caught cheating and your classmates knew about it! Oh how embarrassing!

thank-you for the update...and good for you for standing up and speaking out. Too many people would shrug their shoulders and say "oh well" and walk away never entering the Fair again and just grumbling....which means the women who did it would feel smug and continue to do it year after year. Why have an outside judge if they were going to JUDGE the quilts anyway. What a slap in the face they gave the judge too.

Sounds like it might be resolved for next year anyway. And you are right, at this point it is about honesty and integrity.
Let us know how the meeting goes. Your fair should be much more "fair" next year!

Squeel, Does your newpaper have a website? I'd sure like to read the article when it comes out. I think by the time this is over, those 2 women are going to be embarrassed beyond comprehension! Think, national recognition of their dishonesty.

I am in shock! We have a large state fair and my local guilds enter a lot of stuff. Of course we don't always agree with what the judges pick, but who says my taste is the standard. If she feel these entries were inferior, she should have declined them up front. And if this is not permitted, then she has to live with the judges opinion. This is especially bad because it involves what I consider large sums of money, I don't know what the legal term for this kind of thing is, but diverting money from it's intended target must surely be something criminal in my opinion. And to think that she doesn't even see anything wrong with what she did and will freely admit to it, I wonder if the folks who she diverted the money to were friends? I would be very vocal about this, sponsors give these prizes assuming an impartial judge will give them away, you are not the only ones cheated here. I wish I could offer more than sympathy, I feel terrible for you, you have every right to be angry, just reading it makes me (and lots of others, I see) angry.
