Sounds interesting, but I'm not an appliquer and don't have enough time to learn. Maybe couple years down the road I'll make an attempt. carol/kittyquilt

Okay gang,
This is a pretty easy pattern, especially if we only have to make 8 of them!!
Come on, what fun is life is you're not overwhelmed with commitments??
Keep stitchin
(or using steam-a-seam!!)

Okay I knew I could get my MIL to do it and I knew I could count on good ol' Redsaltbox... woohoo... okay if we could get a couple more interested... we could always just have a couple of us and do more varied turkeys... like if we only get 4 people we could make 4 sets of three different turkeys... that way we could still have 12 different turkeys... does that make sense??? We'd still only be making 12 total turkeys...I have been out school supply shopping so my brain is a little fried!!!

Cheers!

Sharon -

Quick question - if you make the whole block, can you cut it into 1/4's to get 4 turkey blocks?

Jan, I made each block separate. If I'm reading you correctly, you're thinking about making a complete Dresden Plate then cutting it into quarters? I think you'd be losing seam allowance doing it that way and possibly wouldn't get the feathers centered correctly, but you can always give it a try and see what happens.

I think these turkeys would be fun to raw edge machine applique, too. Would get the feathers ruffled! lol Hmmmm, I might have to check that out.

I posted that site to show how easy it is to sew straight across a wedge and get a point for the Dresden tail feathers. I guess it's more like a Fan Block. Strange how just doing something different makes it another block, eh? There are blocks I've seen called three different names, but it's all the same technique.

Missy Alina - please put me down. There is no way I could say no - you have been one of my faithful swappers. LOL. I'll make this and give it to the DGSs, they should get a kick out of it.
