Another yard sale find-triangles

Post by khowardquilts » Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:11 pm

I found the triangles for this quilt at a neighbor's yard sale. Her great aunt had worked on this quilt. Some of the triangles were already sewn into bigger triangles. Some of the triangles were cut very well and some I had to re-cut, they seem to be at least three different batches of triangles. It is tied and is owned by my in-laws.

I probably wouldn't have tackled this quilt if the triangles hadn't been already cut. I don't like to waste anything. I made a small Kalediscope quilt with the leftover pieces. I don't have a digital photo of that.

What a treasure! You did a fantastic job on this. I love how you've set it, very creative. Have you shown your neighbor what you've done with it? Thanks for posting.

Yes, my neighbor saw it when she came for a visit. It was then that I found out that her great aunt had worked on it. That made it more special.

It was a lot of work and I didn't get all the triangles to line up. Some of those even show in the photo. They are tricky. I started it the same year that I did a Storm-at-Sea quilt; that was harder to quilt.

That is great scrappy look! How cool to know some of the history behind the pieces!
