12x35 tablerunner, correct? And will be in Christmas colors?

I am not sure I understand the measurement of fabric. What does 1/3 yd x 1/4 width mean? and 3 strips ca. 16 inches? So it looks like I need 6 different colors or should they be the exact colors you mention?
