Thanks for both the book title and the interfacing hint. Good to know there are options!!

I did make the striped tote as a shopping tote. I used it at the LQS! :) I use it also for heavier foods like cans. It's about the size of the bags at one of our food stores but my handles are much better. The store bags (for $1) have the handles stitched in too close to the top, IMO.

I saw a Thomasville Furniture ad earlier this year, showing a winged back chair sort of, with large black and white striped fabric. I want to make a charm tote from this heavier upholstery fabric. It was so neat. Will go to a store in Denver,that sells Thomasville and see if they have a swatch of it and I can order some.

Pilot2B,

Can't wait to see yours when you finish it. I think upholstery and stiffer fabrics are great for totes. Especially for those of us who are 'fusible-fleece' challenged.

Wonderful totes!!
it seems that totes are so much fin to make and give as gifts.
Now I am motivated to get busy on my tote swap!
