That is beautiful, but you didn't have to remind us that Christmas sewing is here and now.

Beautiful! Aren´t these small project a lot of fun?
lorettav: You have made a very interesting remark - the "quilt as you go" technique is something that I would like to try some day. The technique sounds so economical! But I have never realized that its looks are different from the "classical" sandwich construction ... Do you think the QAYG items get too bulky, wobbly, are not precise enough or shat is it that disturbs you? Please, tell us more about it!

Thank you everyone for the kind remarks.

The name of the pattern I used is Braid Runner by GE Designs and has a finished size of 17 by 52 inches. I've had the pattern for a few years so I don't know whether it's still available.

I didn't follow the 'quilt as you go' directions because I wasn't sure what to use for the back. In the early 1980s I made a large log cabin quilt using the 'quilt as you go' method. I was very happy with it then, and it has held up for over 27 years. I've never thought of it as being bulky---but in those days really high loft batting was the norm.

I made the same pattern in fall colors as a gift for a friend. I used the fuseable fleece and it was very fast and easy. I love yours in the Christmas fabric so will have to make some more. I purchased the pattern at a local quilt shop about a year ago so I don't know if it is still avaliable. I just looked at the web site and they have the pattern. Carol
