Small, a pinking blade for my rotary cutter

Large, an unlimited budget for fabric.

And (this is large and small) a retreat place like in the Elm Street Books, with Eleanor as the head teacher and QIAD-Linda and the other staff at QIAD as the specialized teachers! That would be just this side of heaven!!!!!!!!

Small wish: For everyone to send me their scraps and cast off fabric (a stash without guilt or loss of $$$$) ;)

Big Wish: To have the money to buy all that fabric on my own!

small- a Big Board" so I can iron without that edge happening. I think my hubby can make me one of these.

Large- A Koala Quiltmate Plus IV Studio, you know the kind that has the cut out to put the machine down in and the fold out drawers. I seen one I really LOVED and it was only $2545 in Nancy's Notions catalog.

For those that are looking at the Qbot, here is one persons view of this 'gadget'.

Hi Debbie and everyone,

I go around and look at all these new toys, like the QBot, just
because I'm curious.

I was raised 'frugal'. That doesn't mean 'cheap' it means I buy stuff
that lasts and I get my money's worth (but don't ask me about my
fabric accumulation - problem).

Q-Bot set up... $ 7,000.00 right? Now this is with a 9" harp
machine, it's probably going to be about $ 12,000. (wild guess) when
they get the Tin-Lizzie made machine on board...

The nine inch machine can do a 3 1/2" motif at the end of a queen size
quilt... so.. considering how slowly it stitches.. it would probably
take 2-4 weeks to stitch out the quilt. YAWWNNNNNN.

Hummm... if I got a local talented long-arm quilter with a
computerized system to do big lovely feathers on my quilt and lots of
custom stitching..... 1,000's of choices of designs...

say.. $ 450.00 for a queen size.

I make a queen size quilt - every 18 months... so..

I could have exceptional quilting done on 15 quilts for $ 7,000.

15 Queen size quilts. that takes me 1 every 18 months... 23 years !!

Meanwhile I could get my small quilts done on my little frame... and
be happy with them. It may not be exceptional quilting...

but then with a 3 1/2" motif on a queen-size quilt... that's not
exceptional - no way!!!...

And if I purchased the larger -mid arm... say $ 12,000, and spent all
that time learning and stitching. YAWWNNNNNNNNNNNNN

at $ 450. a quilt (paid for)... that's 26 quilts... 39 years (I'll
be 94 years old in 39 years).

So just from a monetary point of view, and from a 'do it my self'
point of view....

If computer X stitches out the design... or computer Y stitches out
the design... I just can't think of one as 'different' from the other.

It makes absolutely no sense to me to buy toys like these.

Other people will have different views... but I'm going to save my
'want if fabulous' quilts for the very talented pros that are
available for hire.

Jane in Austin.

LOL CoyoteQuilts. You are so logical. My BFF and I bought a B-line frame with a Juki machine w/cruise control. We paid $2,000, $1,000 each for this machine and frame. By the time I quilt my next quilt on it, it will have paid for itself for what I would have paid a long-armer. I'm still learning and I can't quilt a block or line larger than 4" which irritates the snot out of me BUT I can say that I made the quilt top AND quilted it myself. I'll quilt my next quilt and then from then on my quilting cost will be FREE. Of course, this is without the Qbot.
