Another take on reversible quilts

Post by majik47 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 2:07 am

Last spring, a long time friend asked me to make a quilt for his wife, she was having one of those "milestone" birthdays and major surgery.
He tells me, she likes unicorns, dolphins, and the shade of green that is in the unicorn part. The unicorn heads are in the outer blocks that do not show in the picture of this quilt on my bed.
This is what happened with those instructions.
There was no way to quilt it given the time frame, so we tacked it. She was very pleased with it, and actually preferred it being tacked, "that's what Grandma always did".

What a great friend you are and how nice to be able to incorporate both of her favorite things. She'll enjoy that for many years to come and think about grandma too. So nice. OP

Most of my quilts are tied, or "tacked" as you say...I don't have a lot of work space and am just learning to machine quilt. For me, tying is a means of finishing a quilt and getting it to its new home within a reasonable time frame!

I like the way you used a contrasting color for the ties. Gives it a nice touch!

Beautiful job! I love the colors you used and the embroidered unicorns certainly add an interesting touch.
