Rosebud - I would say yes, just remember to take off your seam allowances first - practice with junk fabric first
Here is the website that they are talking about

Look at the pattern. Is it really maybe a 9 patch? Or a 4 patch? If you can figure that out, you can make any pattern bigger or smaller. Figure what end size you want for the block. If you have a 9 patch and want it to be 16" when you are done, figure each smaller piece should be 16 divided by 3, then add 1/2" to each for your seam allowances.
If you want a 4 patch 16", divide 16 by 2, add 1/2" for seams.

I went to the victorianaquiltdesigns.com site and requested the 5 "quilty formulas" via email. When I tried to download the files my anti-virus program (AVG) found a virus in each. I emailed the company and received back an answer that these were "false viruses", and gave instructions to bypass the problem and also assurance that no harm would follow. I still have not downloaded these. Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this problem and would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks.

I went to that site for patterns last year and it caused me & my computer ALL kinds of grief. You be your own judge but I myself refuse to go there. Maybe they have cleaned it up since this time last year. I would hope. Hopefully someone else will post as to whether or not they have been there recently or not. May have to start a new topic asking. Good Luck.

I did go the this site and had no problems this time like I did in August. You might want to try again Cathy. Good luck.

Take Morgans4's advice below and do it her way....it is the only way to guarantee your block measurements are correct. You need to work quilt blocks out through your own math or you will never be able to make a quilt without a pattern. Learn first to recognize the block....4 patch, 9 patch, etc....then like she said, divide, and add the seam allowances.
