thread for machine quilting
I always said I wasn't all that interested in learning how to machine quilt...but now I have this pieced top of a picture quilt all done and I can't bear the idea of sending it out and maybe getting it messed up! A local shop carries walking feet for Singers; I could probably get one for Sadie (my best buddy and old reliable).
My question, for y'all who have the experience, is what machine quilting thread do you prefer? I would like to use the variegated color threads; I have seen both Sulky and YLI brands...any thoughts on which one to use? And can I use it in the bobbin as well?
I have used Sulky's invisible thread and was very pleased, so I am tending to the Sulky brand. But if anyone has opinions or warnings (lol) I'd appreciate knowing about them.
Thanks!

If you want your quilting to show up on the top I love varigated for that. Otherwise I try to do a blending color, like a gray. I've used both brands and liked them equally.
Good luck and happy learning experience to you!

I'm not very experienced at this but I've used the YLI and it worked nicely for me. I've used solid and varigated in this brand.
I've never used the Sulky so I can't offer any opinions on that brand.
Good luck with it, can't wait to see pics.
Hugs,
Joann

I've used both with equal success, and yes, you can use it in the bobbin too. I often use a neutral on the top and varigated in the bobbin so the patters shows on the back. Good luck and have fun.

I use King Tut for the top, and usually white pre-wound bobbins.

Where do you get King Tut, other than a museum?

Didn't Steve Martin do a comedic song about King Tut?
I have had a parody of Kenny Chesney's "Don't Blink" running through my head for days..."Don't Drink"...!

I usually get my King Tut at the LQS. You can go on line to Superior Threads.

Thanks Cindy. I'll have to check Superior Threads. My LQS doesn't carry it.
