Re: MYSTERY SAMPLER. SEW-A-LONG. BLOCK 14 and 15 released.
I have all my blocks completed. Although I like the blocks, I don't like the way the blocks look setting them up according to the picture. It seems too busy. I am thinking of sewing 4 of the 6 1/2 inch blocks together to make a 12 1/2 inches. Then I might set them up as 12 1/2 blocks with sashing between each block. Maybe a narrow outside border and then some kind of simple pieced border---or just a 3 inch border and then and 6 inch outside border. What do you think???

I am so far behind on this. I'm hoping to go home this weekend and get caught up a little on the blocks. I've been babysitting my 2 grandkids for the last 2 weeks at my son's house....I am pooped!!! I'm lovin' everyone's blocks so far.

Redtop,
I think your idea will look great-- on the link that Jan posted above, one person had done a similar layout to the one you describe-- using sashing around some of the blocks and I immediately liked that one- it was my favorite. I wasn't sure how to work the 6 1/2 inch blocks into the arrangement though-- I really like your idea of grouping them into 12 1/2 inch blocks! I can't wait to see yours!
I'm still trying to get caught up on mine. I am so excited to see how they'll look once they're all complete!!

I don't know if this is "legal" or not, I'm using a pic posted on another forum to show the sashing......notice the 6.5" blocks in the top corner! I like this layout.

NOTE: Well, I guess they won't let us "borrow" their pics! lol About halfway down on the page of my previous link posted, there is a brown colorscheme using the "mystery" blocks. Check it out. It's pretty interesting.

Jan, I appreciate your help listing the patterns and the link with the pictures.
But...I'm confused. Why are there 20 blocks listed now instead of 18? Where are the patterns for the eccentric star and reverse eccentric star? Are they 6 1/2" blocks? And am I the only one confused...because it sure seems that way. I feel like I missed something. Thanks!
All the blocks look great and hope to get mine done as soon as I figure this out.

Sadiedaisy1, I too am confused. I've got all the blocks through 16 and from then on I don't have a clue what we are doing. Admittedly, I haven't been on the forum for two days, but I didn't think I could be this confused in that amount of time. Guess I'll just wait to see what other people post for completed stars and then maybe we can figure it all out.

Lori and Susi -
The pattern that DJ was basing this mystery on was found on another website. That website posted the blocks (the ones I posted earlier). I think that DJ substituted a couple of blocks, the 2 that Susi asked about in particular. The pic that Sandy posted is one that someone else did. The pic was in reply to someone asking about sashing the blocks. Hope this clears some of the confusion. I didn't post to confuse, but to hopefully clear some of it up. My apologies.
