Thanks for the sweet comments
(I'm blushing)
I just LOVE those old quilts. When I saw the double wedding ring, I thought to myself, how cool! In those old repro fabs, then I thought, duh, those are repros, those ARE the old fabs! LOL
The two that are draped over chairs are obviously made from someone's clothing. The wool one looks like some mans uniforms and the stars are done with shirtings.
The crazy one of silks was cool. It was dated 1896.
I'm not sure how old the court house steps one was. It was very cool though too.
I know what you mean, Peach about the irons!! I wondered if any of the ladies on the forum have ever used an iron like that? I mean, someones' grandmother or something may have had an old iron like that.

Love the quilt pictures. Also the old irons. I have a collection of irons and when I was a child my Mom still used the old sad irons, as they were called!!!

I see why past generations didn't need a gym! Those irons had to be 15 pounds easily! What's funny is that those irons were probably 'new technology' at some point.
I just loved the quilt made in the star shapes.
Thanks for the pics,
dawne

Oh what mememories. I remember an Aunt of mine that had a Treadle (treddle, I not sure how to spell it). Anyway a foot operated sewing machine. She would let me use (play) with it once in a while.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thank you for the walk through the past. My aunt has my grandmother's treadle and it's just like the one in the picture. I remember the irons well as my foster mother used them for her ironing.
The pictures of the quilts are great. Thank you again.
