I decided to change one of the May swaps because I noticed there were so many garden lovers out there. We've done a few flower swaps including the beautiful French Roses and then the Grandmother's Flower Garden. What's a garden without Butterflies.

We are making Butterfly blocks made with TOTS or Batiks that measure at least 6" finished (6.5" unfinished) but no more than 12" finished (12.5 unfinished). They do not have to be SQUARE. The Background fabric must be sky blue (no night skies please) You may signup for two spaces as long as your second set of blocks are a different pattern and you use different fabrics. You may send in either 6 or 9 blocks, please tell me how many when you signu.

This is the first Round One of a series, you may piece, appliqué or paper piece your butterfly block. Round Two will be to make traditional quilt block patterns (like churn dash, ohio star) using butterfly print fabrics. If there is still interest, Round Three with be for additional butterflies as in the first round.
This can be a totally fun BUTTERFLY themed quilt! You may join as many rounds as you wish or just one. It's up to you! AGAIN, please note this is not a regular or standard quilt with all blocks being the same size. The only "standard" to this quilt will be the theme "Butterflies". Putting it together gives you a chance to use your creativity. You may leave
it all butterflies or choose to add flowers, watering cans, bird houses, birds, frogs, turtles, etc.

Please post every week with or without progress. We luv hearing from you. REMEMBER
COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL SWAP.

Here are some sites with butterfly patterns:

http://www.freequiltpatterns.info/Quilt ... terns.html

http://mccallsquilting.com/legacy/vinta ... index.html

http://www.quilterscornerclub.com/free_ ... ttern.html

http://www.blockcentral.com/patterns-butterflys.html

http://quilterscache.com/B/ButterflyBlock.html

My favorite is the stain glass butterfly. I hope we aren't all going to use the same pattern. I know mine will be different because I always design my own.
