Go to this link to watch Eleanor demonstrate several quilts. Especially look at the "Pink Lemonade" and the "Morning Star" quilts. Each video is about 26 minutes long. It will especially make you want to own the DVD!

I want to thank all of you so very much for your suggestions -- All the patterns sound like they will work -- now I just have to decide which to use. I am going to order the book and DVD!!
Also thank you for your kind words. I lost a brother at the age of 53, and 6 months later my only sister at the age of 56 -- that was 6 yrs ago. This brother that I just lost from pancreas cancer was only 51 yrs old, so its been an emotional 7 yrs. In the 2 yrs my brother was battling cancer, I seemed to have lost all interest in sewing -- even though my husband bought me a new machine!! In February, I started back sewing again, and had forgetten how good sewing makes me feel, and takes my mind off things. Now -- I just can't get enough. There are so many patterns I want to do.

I will post a photo of this quilt when I finish it. Thank you all again for your suggestions!

I am sorry Joan that I forgot to tell you it was one of Eleanor's book, that you can order here in her shop online above. Also sorry about all of the loses that you had to go thur. I still think even for yourself a photo lap quilt. Use Printed Treasures sheets I think you also can get them here in the notions list.

Joan, (((HUGS))), you'll find this a warm and welcoming place to be. I hope you come back often.

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses! I'm sure that this quilt will be very special for your SIL, as you are putting so much love into it.

Are you going to Paducah?? I hope so! A lot of us are doing a class with Eleanor on the new book - Victory Quilts on the 20th of April...
that's just before the Quilt Show!

You guys are just unbelievable -- thank you all so very much for the beautiful and thoughtful messages you have written. I am so happy I found this forum (by accident when searching for how to make pillows!).

I am hoping to go to Paducah -- I will check about taking the class. CindyB -- I am originally from Iowa - Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque area. We are getting snow right now -- and sunday, it was 80 degrees! But at least not as much snow as Iowa has been getting!

again, my heartfelt thanks to all of you. I ordered the book and DVD - and I think I have enough of this fabric to make several quilts. I also am going to attempt a photo quilt - have never done that yet.

I have 2 quilt tops finished, and will post pictures of these later -- just have to do the quilting part. I am attempting to learn free-hand quilting!
