Post by tcbeginner » Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:58 am

I have finished the inside of the Road to Ireland lap quilt. All is left are the borders. Any suggestions on colors?

I think I would use the fabric that has the little touches of red in it. Or do the "Piano Keys" with all of the fabrics. It turned out very nice!

Oh, it's SO pretty. I think a piano key (rainbow) border using all the fabrics would be lovely.

i love this quilt the colors are wonderful and the pattern is great i have never seen it before but would love to make one - piano keys always make such a stunning border you may want to add another narrow border of the dark purple first then add the piano keys and then another narrow of the dark purple and bind it with the dark if you use the dark purple in the piano keys it will pull the color from one narrow to another and make a stunning effect
just a suggestion

Remember I'm new to all this...to me piano keys are the little ivory keys I play at church from time to time. Can someone explain what piano keys are?

Oh, TC, that is SO pretty! How much of each fabric do you have left? Wow, if you have enough, a piano key border would take extra time...but I do think it would look GREAT. Cut the keys the same width you cut your strips for the blocks to give things a nice proportion. Maybe bind it in either the cream or one of the dark purples...it's gonna look yummy!

Hope you are having FUN--that's what quilting is for!
