Son did so much whining and crying about his not having his quilt quilted that I went in my sewing area and started cutting up the left over material from his quilt. I cut 6 1/2 squares and discovered that I had enough for a lap quilt which I can manage quilt on my sewing machine. So I got the blocks all sewn into a top and the batting and backing attached and machine quilted in the ditch. I have even got the binding sewn in place ready to stitch. I wanted to use the material of red and blue from the first quilt to use as the binding and calculated that there was not enough. So I cut both the red and blue in 12 inch strips and sewed them together in a miter. It looks so cool. He saw it for the first time last night and he is well pleased.

And well pleased he should be. At least now the pressure is off of you to get his big quilt done so quickly.

I'm trudging along on the tractor quilt, but my left wrist is acting up so I can only sew for short spells, which is driving me crazy.

I wonder how Cathy and Cindy did at the Houston Festival.

Sunsup,
Did you decide to do the log cabin for the tractor quilt?

Sunsup - the quilt festival is this coming weekend. We're going Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and I'm so excited I'm bouncing off the walls. BOING BOING BOING I sure wish you were coming again this year. We are going to have SO much fun. I can't wait and I'm really having a very hard time concentrating here at work. LOL

This weekend I managed to get my sewing studio mostly straightened up so that I can get started cutting another quilt.

I've been puttering on my UFOs lately. A bit here, a bit there. When I cleaned my sewing room this summer, I found a couple of more. So this week, I finally got a complete and total handle on those things I have in the works. I've got a spreadsheet showing my ufo/wip, pigs, completed tops and finished quilts, not that there is much on my complete list for this year. I've also have a photo representation of my WIP/UFOs and PIGs. Now if I can keep from starting anything new!

Here are the UFO/WIP: http://www.flickr.com/photos/knitnoid/s ... 424075045/

And the PIGS:

The next top I want to finish is my Orange Crush. It just needs borders....

Knitnoid - I love your tulip fabrics. One of your projects that you can do quickly and mark it off your list is the pillowcase. Now I'm going to look at your UFO/WIP.

Well, gee, you have lots of UFOs and WIPs - LOL. You must have a humongous sewing room. I love your stack-n-whack. I did one of those for my sister and I really enjoyed doing that one. The brown and pink fabrics - I remember when you got those and showed them to us here on the forum. Your handquilting is beautiful - is that going to be in a quilt? I'm not crazy about the block that looks like a swastika - I kinda have an aversion to those - LOL. How old are you? Do you have enough time left here to finish all those. I'm amazed - and I wish I was more like you! I'm so anal. I have two quilts that are ready to be quilted, my Egg Money BOM quilt that I have only gotten 4 blocks done on, the signature blocks from our first forum one, and I'm cutting out a Pink Lemonade. And that's it. But I sure have a bunch of projects in my head - they keep me awake at night - ROFLOL!

Cindy - Where to start.

The tulip fabrics I can't take credit for picking out. They were done up as a kit at the shop. Fell in love with them - and if you've looked at my stuff, you know they are not my usual colors.

i have no idea why I haven't made that pillow case. Just haven't gotten around to it yet I guess. Maybe before I go to my next retreat.

Admittedly I have my sewing room in what is techncially the den. But I share space with both my personal and professional office. Ironically, I basically use just 1/2 of the space.

One of my goals is to get the borders on that stack-n-whack by the end of the year. Maybe that will be one of my projects I take to retreat next month. I should also finish the pink and brown then too - well to the top stage.

Thank you for your comments on my handquilting. It's been quite a while since I worked on it. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. It's about 18" square, so I may just bind it and call it good -- when I get that far.

Yes, I'm young enough to finish these -- it would definately be easier if I didn't start any more though. If I manage to complete 4 a year, including quilting the tops I already have done (I think there are 27 of them), I still won't be able to retire. Fortunately, I generally finish more than 4 year, although this year I haven't finished as much as I would like.

good for you Grammy2!

Knitnoid, I love the kitty sitting on the DWR quilt. She looks like she is looking at that corner, waiting for more blocks to appear. LOL

Cindy are you going to use Nature's Splender for the pink lemonade quilt? It sure is pretty fabric, but I have 2 waiting to be started so I'm reluctant to commit to annother.

Sunsup - I sure missed you at the quilt show. Next year it's in the middle of October - mark your calendar and make plans to come.

Yep, I'm using Natural Splendor for the Pink Lemonade quilt. I've started it - have most of it cut out and I've started sewing the 4-patches. I think it will turn out pretty - not because of my sewing but because the fabric line is just gorgeous.
