The binding strips are on the charm quilt and I have been sewing the back edge down. I actually find putting the binding on the back by hand to be VERY satisfying because it has such a nice clean finish, IMV. It does have a flannel back, though, so I can only work on it early or late in the day, when the house is cooler.

This is a quilt for a mom in our Girl Scout troop, 2 years past a cancer diagnosis, still undergoing treatment. I don't know how she holds it together from an emotional standpoint. I guess we are given the strength we need, when we need it...but she is amazing to me nevertheless.

Sunsup, I will try to persuade DH to help me get a photo of the Country Lanes quilt top. I have sent one in before this, but I don't, for the life of me, remember what the title of the post was...maybe I can find it and resend it?

Carole, I agree, finishing off the binding by hand does give a quilt a much better appearance, IMHO. When I do my charity quilts I usually do them by machine because there is always such a demand for quilts that sometimes it seems we can't make them fast enough. The ones I do for me or as gifts I do by hand because I like that look better.

YEE HAW - the Tennessee Waltz quilt top is done. Moving on, I've ironed all my fat quarters to do a Twin Sisters quilt and I'm ready to start cutting.

Jog my memory is the twin sisters quilts the quilt that is a nine patch? One quilt has the nine patch predominately dark and the other quilt has the nine patch predominately light. If I am correct QIAD had a show about the twin sisters.

Busylady - I think you are thinking of El's Nine Patch and Stripe quilt. I just made two of those for my twin grandbabies. If you use the same fabrics you can make two quilts at a time. One has positive nine patches and negative stripes and the other is just the opposite with negative nine patches and positive stripes.

busylady, glad to hear that you are making good progress on your quilt. I am still working on that binding for my Christmas quilt, I had to stop to finish up a couple of other projects for a swap. I hope I can pick it up again this weekend.

The weather here has been very comfortable the last few days. Good quiltin' weather! I worked on my pieced wallhanging, did some machine quilting on it. Had to take a break, neck got too tired and hands are tired, too! But it was FUN--!!!

I wound up taking the borders off my coffee mug o' the month quilt. They just weren't working...sigh. Hope it doesn't become a terminal UFO!

Have one quilt and four quilted pillows here to go to their new homes.

Carole, sounds like you are moving right along. Do you think you're going to have to purchase fabric for your coffee mug borders ?

I got 2 borders on DD's quilt and wasn't happy, but I think I'm just going to add a folded border inbetween those borders and the quilt.
But it will have to wait till my arm heals. sigh
