Re: UFO Support Group
Toria - I have as many different reasons for not finishing a UFO as I have UFOs. The last one that I finally got to the top stage was easy. It was a BOM and I didn't like the fabrics. It was supposed to be Black & Bright, but the brights didn't work together well. Then there was the issue of the blocks not turning out the same size no matter what I did. This year my goal was to get those blocks into a top, to be quilted at a future point in time. I split them into 3 groups -- 2 groups of 5 which worked well and 2 which just didn't go. Now I've got two tops for baby quilts and they'll either have back art or I have 2 orphan blocks -- haven't decided which yet.

Toria, you sound pretty normal to me! My mother, bless her pointed head, can't understand why I would start any new project when I have another one still unfinished...this from a woman who was the Baroness of UFOs! She has a needlepoint project here that is at least 10 years old and far from done...she also tends to be an impulsive buyer of craft kits and supplies, then she never uses them...
I have started several projects and then hit roadblocks. It happens sometimes. But why should I deprive myself of the joy and satisfaction of quilting just because I got snagged up on another project?! I have learned the hard way that, for me personally, I should NEVER start a project unless I have a pattern in front of me. High risk of UFO formation with things like that!
You are in good company here! Let us know if you need moral support for turning those UFOs into *FINISHES*.

Re: UFO Support Group
Did anyone work on their UFOs this weekend? I didn't get a chance to do much sewing at all. Friday night is girls night out and when I got home my DH and I decided to go pick up my niece instead of waiting until morning. We got home about 2 AM. It was either that or DH was going to leave at 5 AM to get her. Crawled out of bed by 8 AM and was on the go. When I got home had an emergency to deal with at work, then took a nap. Later in the evening I did a couple of paper pieced sashings, but that's about it. No sewing today, as mom came by and then we looked for my nieces's cell phone (it's on vibrate) before taking her home. We got home about 2 hours ago and I'm not sure what I've been doing. Before I got to bed I've got to work up the instructions for the paper pieced sashing. Tomorrow I've got to cut the fabric into kits to pass out Tuesday night.
Hope someone got to work on their UFOs.

Knitnoid, I spent sewing time on charity projects and some gifts. At least they won't become UFOs--lol

My kitchen floor is getting tiled, which is good, but the washer, dryer, dishwasher and dining set have been all piled into my sewing room. It should be mostly finished tomorrow, so I'm hoping.

Sunsup, are things returning to normal at your place? Did the floor get done?

Well, I'm hoping to get my sewing room back tomorrow. The rest of the house is still a mess. I just have to get the binding on my Paducah quilt and I can get back to my poor, neglected ufos. LOL

Re: UFO Support Group
Hello fellow UFOers...
When this group was formed several months ago, I put a butterfly quilt on top of my UFO-list, and guess what? It is still on top of my list
Two days ago, I could feel a cold coming on, and decided to stay at home and do some job stuff here instead of going into my office, but... the old UFO sat there in a corner and stared at me and tried to convince me to pick it up, so of course I did.
Started with taking out the free motion quilting I had already done (didn't like the leaves I had experimented with) and then just stippled all light green areas instead. So, now "all" that remains are some free motion quilting on the butterlflies and their friends before I can bind it!
Here's the leaves that had to go (clearly I was not ready for such elaborate free motion...)

And here's the UFO in progress again, with a dragonfly under the needle

Mary, it's gotta be tough to machine quilt when you have a headcold! I can't sew when I'm sick (which makes me more miserable!). The needle going up and down makes me dizzy, and I make a lot of mistakes!
The leaves looked pretty good anyway, imo. Have fun, whatever you decide!
