This is an unfinished quilt for my younger daughter. I still need to put the final borders on it and then get it quilted. I gave it to her for Christmas. The block is "Peace and Plenty" My Daughter is an International Relations Major with an emphasis in Peace and Conflict Studies, so I picked the block because of it's name. She is passionate about the issues of hunger and strife in Africa. The wheat was picked to represent the hope for food (plenty) the grasses for prosperity and life and the batik for the color of the hot sun and the traditional fabric treatment of batik. I didn't finish it because the quilter I want to do it was so backed up before the holidays. He is going to quilt it with a tribal pattern.
She loves it and it is going to stay here at home she has her t-shirt quilt at school.
Although it looks wavy it isn't but drapped over the block wall it looks that way.
