Pattern for Large Scale Print
I am making a bed quilt for my grandson - age 6. One of the fabrics is large scale trains. What would be the best pattern to use to take advantage of the trains?

Maybe square in a square on-point. Or, 8 pointed star with the train in the center. Check out quilterscache.com. HTH, Amie

You can use a modified log cabin where the center is larger than normal.

Have you seen QIAD's Country Lanes pattern? It is a great quilt for showcasing a large print. It's in the Quilts Through the Seasons book. Goes together easy, too!

Thanks, ladies, for the excellent suggestions. I will get QIAD's Country Lanes pattern and will experiment with the square in a square and the 8 pointed star.
I am still a novice and have been reluctant to start this quilt. Now, I have no excuse.

Nimrod, there is a quilt book out that you can make quilts that really shows off large scale fabric. The book is called "Just Can't Cut It". It really makes a pretty quilt, and you can use straight binding or do the scallop.
