Blue Quilts

Post by knitnoid » Fri Jan 04, 2008 9:45 pm

It all started simple enough. I wanted to make a 'blue' apple core quilt. After 6 months I had about 225 different blue fabrics, and made this "1/2 charm" quilt (400 pieces) for my husband. I finished it about 8:30 New Year's Eve 2005. I used the WonderArc pattern and ruler (http://www.wonderarc.com/'>http://www.wonderarc.com/)

The following summer, my husband's godson lost his roof during Katrina, so I pulled out my fabric and made Grandpa's Best (http://www.perkinsdrygoods.com/patterns ... tterns.php about 2/3s of the way down on the page)

I call my version Lattice of Hope

When I found out he and his wife were expecting, I made a matching baby quilt that I call Lattice of Joy

Spring of 2006, I did a Dorothy Young Mystery called Spring Breeze. I shopped my stash and pulled out the blues again.

The fall of 2006 I partcipated in a block swap. 35 12" blocks, any pattern any color. I think I did about 17 Puss in the Corner blocks out of my blue stash.

The last blue quilt top I've made is this one called Simply Squares. It's available from the designer at http://delawarequilts.com/Relay/Pattern ... elay.html

I still have blue fabric coming out of my ears. I've been known to put blue fabric back on the shelf when I realize I have it in my hand, but some still sneaks into my stash.

All of these quilts are gorgeous. I love all the blues. Isn't it funny how we all have a specific color that we always go to? You have been very busy and I'm sure the recipients of these quilts were thrilled. Great Job! Laura
