Ideas for coffee mug quilt
One of our forum members recently made a scrappy quilt of blocks with pieced coffee mugs. I had made a couple of those blocks myself and they really are cute.
Being a coffee drinker, I have decided to make a coffee mug quilt myself, in a "mug of the month" theme. I probably just need to go for a ramble through the fabric store, but I thought I would throw the idea out for brainstorming with all of you...
Any ideas for monthly "themes" for the mugs? I was inspired by a really cute dog print for August...for the "dog days" of August. Months with holidays are easy, but if anyone has ideas for the other months, I'd love to hear about them.

Jan you could use snow men or new year fabric
Feb hearts
March kites, shamrocks, tulips
April umbrellas, spring flowers
May mothers day,
June fathers day
July patrictic
August you have
September teacher fabric for back to school
October halloween
November turkeys, thanksgiving, fall leaves
December, Christmas or Haunnikka (sp?)
I will have to keep thinking of others

Re: Ideas for coffee mug quilt
CaroleJ I recently had an idea for a coffe cup quilt also. I'm going to photograph some of my favorite mugs and then put them into a wall hanging. I have a coffee quilt wall hanging I made from a pattern, but want something original to me. I am an avid coffee drinker.

May I make another suggestion. Get 12 people to sign up. Each person picks a month to do. That way its easier to get one theme fabric then trying to get 12 theme fabrics.
BTW, sign me up. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I drink hot tea and treat it like coffee. I love coffee, but coffee doesn't love me. :^(

Evie, that would be a great idea for a swap if we could find a simple coffee cup or mug pattern.
12 people, one for each month, each person makes 12 blocks and swaps 11.

Re: Ideas for coffee mug quilt
love this idea I have a new paper pieced pattern from Carol Doak's book 300 Paper Pieced Blocks. I would love to give this a try. 12 months of coffee cups.
Instead of holidays for June a nice summer beach scene would be nice, or this could be august too.
Sept means back to school if you still have little ones or work in the schools but it also means sitting outside in the evening enjoying the last gasp of summer, I would love to find fabric with a porch swing on it
