I didn't get to much sewing today, It seemed I was doing dishes and picking up... DH made chili last night and had it again for lunch today.... amazing how the pots and bowls he used never cleaned themselves.....grrrr. I am ready for this long weekend to be over.

I think I am going to make the Jacob ladder from the pioneer book... but am not real sure if I have enough fabric...So, I will make a few blocks and see if I need to make the whole sampler instead.

I tend to pick dark colors as my main color... all the pictures in the book have light backgrounds so we will see how it turns out...

They are ball of dough that needs to rise like bread. Then deep fried in Oil. Oil = Olie. Bollen = Balls. Topped with powdered sugar. Some people put raisin through the dough. Easy, filling and fattening.

I have stayed mostly OUT of the kitchen to cook or bake since my stroke 4 years ago. I have become a true clutch. I've always been kinda clumpsy. 1 1/2 years ago family og mine were over from Holland, they liked true kittchen fresh cooked food. Encouraged me to start to cook again. Wouldn't you know I ended up dropping a whole dinner when I tried to transfer it from the oven to the counter?

Who knows, this might get me back cooking and baking again. I Loved doing that before. made candies and chocolates galore. Breads and pies. Last night I baked these without ANY incidents. But left a Giant mess in the kitchen.

All of you are a God send to be so patient with me and listen to my 'stories' over and over again.

*HUGS* and some pillow *Fluffings* for the ones that are getting close to retire after this first day of 2008.

359 days left till Christmas gals, we better get going.

ME those are so pretty! I am totally at a loss as what block to do for the breast cancer blocks, I have totally thought I will just do 9 patchs and call it good. Sigh I want to do something more creative we will see.

MAW....I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do either and found this block when I was searching....they go together pretty fast. I think I'll use scraps for the next one I do, I found lots of pink hiding in my stash!

Tulpje, your Ole Bollen looks delicious. It look a lot like Indian Fry Bread which I learned to make from an old Hopi woman. Her son and my husband were friends and she shared her recipe with me so I could make fry bread for 'Mr.Paul'. I think she had a crush on my man .Any way I sure wish you had saved one for me.

By the way, You didn't fluff me Saturday night and I didn't sleep well at all. Please don't forget to Fluff me tonight.
