DD#3's art quilts

Post by SewSew » Thu Dec 27, 2007 2:52 am

My daughter, Victoria, made this art quilt for me as a Christmas gift.
She sewed a copper and brass rose to the front of it and there are silver beads sewen along the seam lines at the bottom left. She likes to leave her quilts with an unfinished look to them and sometimes just does a decorative stitch on the edges. We have found an art medium that we both enjoy and can share. She attended the Houston Quilt show with me and she really was inspired by the art quilts at the show. I am very proud of my DD#3 she is a senior in High School but will be accepted as an early enrollment student at the local community college in January. She will be a busy girl, going to high school and college at the same time.

This one she made for her Godmother as a Christmas gift.

This is DD#2 with her gift from her sister. It is a coffee cup design with a swirl design that looks like steam and the darker fabric is coffee beans. Victoria used fabric paint to accent the steam and swirls in the coffee cup print and added swirls to the coffee bean fabric. Christina, DD#2 has a coffee theme in her kitchen using the same fabrics for curtains and placemats that I made for her.

Very beautiful and one of a kind!

Did she date and sign them?

She always signs her work but I am not sure if she dated them. I will have to remind her to make labels for them to document her work. I always make sure we photograph her creations before she gives them away.

She really made a nice one for her sister and for her art teacher.
