Have an old ironing board?

Post by sewbug » Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:53 am

I saw this on a HGTV show today. Take the legs off an ironing board, paint it any color you like, and use it as a peg board in a sewing room. It takes up very little wall space and holds a ton of items. all you'd have to buy would be some S hooks. The table top boards would be good to use to hang the smaller items. I really like this idea and it looked great in the sewing room that was featured. And it's great for magnets too.

Dear Sewbug, This is a great idea!! I bought a ironing board that hanges on the back of the sewing room door. Only problem is I am always ironing backwards. So I stopped using it. I have a small wall that I could hang it on. Mine is white. I won't even have to paint it. I will pick up some S hooks this weekend. I will let you know if it workes for me. Hanging might be a challenge. Thank you!! Kathy

I didn't notice how it was hung to the wall, except it was hung up side down, the small end at the bottom. I'll let DH figure that out.

I have my mother's ironing board but I still use it because I don't like these newer T legged type.

What a great idea!!! I have my grandmother's ironing board in storage, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it and now I don't have to because I can use it. Thanks, I love having things that belonged to my family near me and can't wait to do this.
Happy stitching!!
