new round robin for spring
Re: new round robin for spring
I'm working on Ann's medallion and will mail to Lynn beginning of next week. This round robin is my first ever I'm doing. I hope you'll like it.

Dennise, don't worry, I am sure you will do the best you can. Remember you can always just add a plain border if you do not want to try anything more difficult.

Re: new round robin for spring
I haven't gotten a round from Lynn for the Beach theme. I'd better PM her and find out if she's sent it or if she will soon.
I just finished her summer/garden RR and will send it out to QuilterLiz on Monday. It took me quite a while to figure out what I wanted to do with it, then it took me even longer to figure out how to do what I wanted to do. Once I started though, it went very quickly. I hope she likes it and Liz has an easy time decideing waht to do next.

Denise, I don't know why you were so worried. I saw your project for the ugly swap and you did a fantastic job transforming that fabric.
Lee, I am starting on your medallion this week. I have had your medallion on my design wall for a week, DD#3 and I have brainstormed ideas and I have finally decided what I want to add.

I think I will try something like this next time. It sure sounds like you girls are having fun!
How do you come up with ideas for your "medallion"? Is it a favorite block in favorite colors? Is it a gift for someone? What is your thought process on selecting them?

Jan, I like to do applique medallions but some do pieced blocks as their starting point. You can go with a favorite color, special fabric or a block that maybe signifies something about you as a starting point. It is really whatever grabs you.LOL I know sometimes the idea comes right away and sometimes you have to think on it and see what the theme is or what type of theme you would like to follow.
My first round robin was a paperpieced block made with leftover fabric from a project I had made for my mother before she died. That was more of a memory piece for me because of its meaning. The second was the Holiday round robin where we chose a holiday as our theme. I decided on a halloween theme done in a combination of El's method of applique and pieced block. I chose my theme because I didn't have any halloween wallhangings and lots of Christmas and other holidays. This one was a Spring round robin so I chose a basket with flowers done in a machine applique method and I used a more abstract flower.
Dj, is doing a row robin which is very similar to this one and you can pick whatever theme you like. The difference is that you add a row at a time instead of going around a medallion.

No worries, Kathy.
I just sent Lynn's to QuilterLiz today so I'm up for a bit of a break. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi everyone I just want to thank Quilterbee, Mary Q and Sewsew for making my rr so beautiful. I feel like I didn't do much this time I was really stumped when they arrived you ladies know how to make them beautiful. I mailed Sewsew's today I really couldn't think of what to do Mary Q's added touch made it look finished to me so I just did a little more to it! Hope you like it. I just wanted to thank everyone for doing such a beautiful job. There is alot of talent here I'm glad I received some of it!!! Mary Q I am so happy I got the same finishing touch as Sewsew I loved hers and didn't want to part with it then mine arrived wow! Thanks Bev
