Re: Pincushion question
I use the very fine sand...cleans and sharpens and weights your pin cushions. I bought mine at a building center store. I have also used the trims from my quilts, and wool....but I find the wool hard to get the pins into if I cover the pincushion with just cotton fabric. I like the sand the best!

Re: Pincushion question
I have used everything from dry beans to rice and sand... the easiest is sand and rice.
To fill the cushion use a funnel and a small pouring style measuring cup.....
But don't be a dork like I was the first time I tried this and put the pin cushion on my lap to fill.... I think I am still vaccuming up rice....
