mid arms

Looking for info on 'mid arms'. I saw the Voyager yesterday at a friends house, and it is very nice, and it quilts like a dream. She has the hinterberg frame.
I would like to know about the other mid arms and see the differences.
One thing I would like is: a beep to let you know when you run out of bobbin thread.

Sounds interesting. I don't know anything about the mid-arms....sounds like a good one. Yes, a Beep sound would be a nice feature when bobbin is getting too low!! Good Idea!

The V-17(Voyager) and the HintyStretch(Hinterberg Stretch) is the best system for your $$. You need to join some of the mid-arm groups on Yahoo. The are 2 specific for Hintys,

homequiltingsystems has all midarm owners, but most folks go with Hinty. I'm in 76 of these quilt-y groups and love them. Amie

Is there much difference with the voyager and the Tin Lizzie 18??

There are a few differences between the Tin Lizzie and the V-17/HintyStretch.
Weight- the Lizzy is 95 pounds. The V-17 is 75 pounds.

Availability- the Tin Lizzy is only sold on the west side of the country. Shipping is high and there's no one to help you if you need it. Hinty/V-17 are very popular and there's alot of support. There are numerous Yahoo groups where you can get immediate help. There's 1 group for the TinLizzy and it's not busy.

The Hinty Stretch is very versitile and cost $995, the V-17 is $2500, and the SR is $600.

Both are nice but the Hinty setup has been around for years.
The Lizzy just came out 2 years ago.

If you live in the California area, Id look at the Lizzy. If you live east or south, I'd go for the Hinty setup.

Either way, I would not buy a Pfaff Grand Quilter and the "improved" Inspira(it was in serious need of improvements and the name change helps to sell them). JMHO, Amie

Between my FT job- Fri-Sat-Sun, 7am-7pm
My kids (3)
My grandson(3 months) Teenage pregnancy deal
My Dad has stage 4 head/neck cancer-I take him Mon-Thurs. to chemo/rad therapy
My dog, Jack has cancer
My DH works 12 hours shifts,too
I take my 2 younger kids to school and pick them up.
I pay for my 2 younger kid's private school tuition AND grandson's daycare.
I keep my grandson on Thurs.

** Quilting is my sanity, my drug, my beer, my outlet, my soul.
Without a release, I'd probably shoot myself(just kidding!!).

IMHO of all the machines I test drove at the quilt show, the Tin Lizzie was my LEAST favorite. I'll leave it at that - I don't like to bad mouth a product I haven't used much. I'm sure there are some good things about it.

Can some one explain to me what is the difference between a Mid-arm versus a long-arm? Length only?

Any thing under 10" is a shortarm
11"- 17" is a midarm
17" + is a longarm.

Some are stretched, some are not. Amie
