Maybe add a flip up piece to the back of the cabinet. That would give you more room to lay your quilt.

The only advice I have, read the directions first! No really, that flip up piece sounds like a good plan. Maybe put it on wheels with locks so it moves easily but can lock it in place when sewing. Just a thought.

Saint Nancy,
I like the idea of a pop up surface on the back of the cabinet that is level with your sewing surface when it lifts up as it will give you support for some of the larger quilts that you do. Maybe he can use a piano hinge so that it is stable with the use of pull out gate legs for support. Does this mean he is making me one too?

Let us know what you decide. I've just asked my DH to make me a table where the machine can drop in and be level with the table surface. I think it would take a lot of strain off the shoulders when machine quilting.

The table sure looks like it has everything you need. I also would add the extra space to use when you quilt something large....my table has a section on a hinge and when I don't need it, I put it down....where did you get this picture? Does the table belong to someone you know? Very nice!

Make sure it is tall enough and you don't have to bend over. Mine is about waiste high.
