I thought it looked like they were not sewn together yet, but then again, they are laid out so straight and square, I had to ask :))

If this is your first real quilt, we must begin the compliments again. Your color usage for so many different patterns is outstanding and the alternate blocks being the same, just pull it all together in beautiful proportion....Bravo to you! Can't wait until we see it finished.

Great sampler Granma2five. The color combo is very nice. I wouldn't have a clue on how to quilt it though. Lori

Gramm2five, I love your sampler. The colors work so well together. Such a challenge for a first "real" quilt. I am working on a BOM sampler at my local quilt shop and for me I am going to quilt the lines in the block to highlight each blocks unique design. I will do something simple and curvy for the sashing and boarder.

My goodness,

I'm totally overwhelmed at all the compliments from you all. Gee, thanks so much!! I cannot take all the credit for either the fabric/color choices or the color placement in each sampler block. I took a "Moda U" class at our local Ben Franklin store. The first class I told the instructor that I was "color challenged", and would she please help me pick out the initial 4 fabrics required. She did, tho I was able to coordinate the others. We were given postcards each month that showed us which units to make with either the light, medium or dark fabric and the dimensions to cut them to. That was it. We were on our own for the construction, etc.

I have learned a lot over the last year of this class, unfortunately most of it was from trial and error. Gotta say, I truly believe I'm learning more here from all your precious people. Thanks so much!!

I will post a pic when it is completed.

Happy quilting,

Karla

Karla, wow, that is a wonderful sampler! I have to add to the above (or below) comments that it is absolutely beautiful! I wish that I had color help like you've had!!! LOL!!!

I agree - outline quilting the blocks to make them "pop" is a great idea! I know I wouldn't want to do a meandering quilting stitch over the whole thing, but maybe to help the blocks stand out, maybe a little.... I can't help that, it's me!

LOL!!!

I do also want to compliment you on the size of the blocks - they are all so perfect, it makes me jealous!!!! Fantastic job, and it will make the rest of the sewing putting that top together so much easier!

What an amazing quilt!! I don't think I'm ready to tackle that type of block yet!! I like how you put the square in a square block between the other sampler blocks - it breaks it up a little so you can appreciate the sampler blocks. The colors are really nice too.

Is this going on your bed? or are you going to hang it on the wall?
