What a fun idea. I have an old doll that was my Mom's. Don't know if it was anybody's before her or not. I should get it looked at and find out about it. Unfortunately my Mom developed Alzheimer's and we weren't able to document anything about a lot of her stuff. She had so many antiques (mostly dishes, dolls, jewelry, and that kind of stuff. I did bring a plate to her one day at the Nursing Home to ask her about it. I knew it was my great-grandmothers. All she could tell me was it was a very pretty plate. She had no recollection of it after it sat in her china cabinet for at least 20 years. So, those of you out there putting these things off, get the info while you can as you never know what the future brings.

Susie....you created a memory that will live forever with those two precious grandkids. Looks like you pulled out all the stops. It was so great that grandpa was more than willing to join in the fun. Bet it is a fond memory for the two of you as well.

Oh Susie these are great photos. I think it is so wonderul that you and your husband both did this for your grandchildren. Someday I would love to have a tea party with a grand child. But I won't hold my breath. Both boys are in their late 30's with no girlfriends or plans.
I do have a grand niece but have never lived close to her. I too have a doll like yours. It was my MIL's.
This story just made me so happy. THANKS for putting a smile on my face!

Susie- you would get my vote for "Grandmother of the Year" with the precious teaparty you hosted for your darling grandchildren! As a young girl growing up, I LOVED tea parties with my aunt and great aunt! Needless to say I am die-hard tea drinker....and even my own children (DD-26 & DS-24) are established tea drinkers. (However, my son is an ICED tea drinker!) One of their favorite stops (when they are back in the area for a visit) is to stop in and see my mom (their grandma) for a 'spot' of tea! Gosh- that's 3 generations of tea drinkers!
I just love how you added all those special touches (gloves, fur, tiara, tie, high top tennis shoes ....and of course- the butler) to make it a memorable occasion! I can hardly wait to host a teaparty just like yours...but I have to have the grandchildren first!
You are a special grandmother, Susie, and I can tell you relish this role! ~Marcia
