Quilt Ladder

Post by Geneva2 » Fri Sep 28, 2007 8:46 am

I thought you ladies might like to see a Quilt Ladder my DH made for me several years ago. It is a way to display your quilts without taking up much space. In this picture the top quilt is the wedding ring my mother gave us as a wedding present 48 years ago. You can see a lot of flour sack pieces in this quilt. It is not a traditional wedding rign. I have never seen another one like it. ie. with the 4 patch in the center and the rings are solid.

What an idea. My DH made me a regular quilt stand but I'm going to get him to make me one like this. Those quilts are beautiful. Would love to see the whole quilt, if possible

Hey, I like that ladder idea. Will have to show my DH. Your wedding ring quilt is beautiful. That's one on my list of to do's after I get better at this hobby. Thanks for sharing.

OK Geneva,
I should have read this post BEFORE I asked what a quilt ladder was! I love it! It is exactly what I wanted for my quilts. Thank you for showing us.

Loretta,
The top quilt was made by my mother, the 2nd and 4th are quilts I bought and the 3rd quilt, the blue one is one I made.
I'll try to get my camera charged up and take pictures of mine and my mother's. I'll tell my DH how much you all like his quilt ladder.

What a nice way to display the quilts without taking up alot of room.
In 69 my grandmother made me a weddingring quilt. The batting inside is now all lumpy.
I want to share what I did yesterday... I was envited to the Country Fare Quilters Guild, in Claremore, OK . Pat Knoechel, Eleanor Burns sister, presented the latest designs from “Quilt in a Day”. It was educational and fun!

My husband makes these ladders also...except they fold on hinges in the middle so they can lean against the wall or fold in half and hang quilts on both sides....I usually take them to our local quilt show and sell them after we hang quilts on them for the show. Your quilts are lovely! How precious to have wonderful old ones in your collection.

If your DH would like to see the ladders my husband makes, let me know and I could e-mail you a picture...as long as we exchange quilt ideas, maybe the DH's would like to exchange wood-working ideas :))
