Round Paper Pieced Mat by Inka
Inka says she is running out of things to post. We better encourage her to keep quilting, because these small projects give us good ideas.

Inka, it is beautiful! I think you did a great job, both on the technique and the fabric choices. And, wow, I'm so impressed with how you managed to get that round border so smooth, flat, and without any small puckers in the fabric!

Inka I think it's beautiful...outstanding job. What's your secret to getting that round border so perfect? I love your choice of colors.

Where did you get the pattern for this?

I have used a bias double strip to bind this little placemat for a friend of mine (normally I use straight ones). And I was proud of courageously being able to chop off the corners! - the friend has got a round table. In fact, this mat was another aprentice product - I enjoy making "fun projects" ... Would you believe I had made all my initial quilting on a mechanical Minerva sewing machine which I still keep because I dearly love it? (I had sewn lots of clothes with it for both my children.)Now I have a new Pfaff with the walking foot and it is one of the best toys I have ever had...so now I am trying to tame it!

Oh yes, the pattern - there was none! As I have said elsewhere - you just take a pencil and ruler, revise your school day geometry, stick to the same width of layers and 45 degree line - and off you go! The lines will meet and produce the pattern themselves. It is paper pieced - for those who might not know. (I have seen other angles to play with in pineapples to produce very interesting but to my taste very "pointed" asymetric designs!)
