What an abundance of beautiful quilts! I think the snail trail is my favourite, but maybe that's just because I've recently started to dream about making one of those myself...:-) They are all stunning!

The Snail's Trail was made from blocks that we all made last year. You know the drill...you get your name in the pot for how many blocks you made.

I think we had enough blocks to make 4 quilts. There were a couple more, but didn't get pictures of those.

No, Diane, I don't know the drill, LOL! I live in a country where quilts in general is an unknown concept, let alone quilt retreats, LOL!

But, I think I can imagine the drill... Does that mean that some lucky persons got to go home with them? I'm again turning green of envy...:-)

You bet Homespun. For every block you make you get your name in the pot. Then they break up the blocks so there are enough for several quilts. Then they draw names and everyone whose name they draw gets a set of blocks. Some people make lots of blocks, and some make only one.

I keep coming back here to look at the snail trail quilt. I really really love that pattern! I saw a green one in the quilt show I went to recently. I think I need to make one very soon...:-)

Grammy65, sorry for asking more questions about this "collective quilt", but, when people have made blocks for it, who puts it all together before it is given away to the lottery winner? Sounds to me that this person should be getting a quilt in return for all the work!

Hi Homespun....When all the blocks have been separated into groups to make up several quilts, that is when the names are drawn. The people who win the blocks are the ones who make the quilt. It is theirs to keep. It is quite a common practice at quilt guilds. My two buddies and I got to put the groups of blocks together last year. It was fun taking all the blocks and laying them out, trying to make sure there weren't too many repeats in each quilt. I think we ended up with about 4 or 5 groups of blocks. Does that clear it up any?

Homespun - that green snails trail quilt was outstanding because of the dimension it had. That was achieved by fabric color choices and placement. I would love to make a snails trail quilt if it would turn out looking like the green one.
