My concern was what chemicals might be in the dyes being used in China. I had looked at the quality and was pleased with the thread count and feel of the fabric. It's just with all of the bad publicity that China has been having, I decided to not tempt fate. The fabric is to be used in something for my little granddaughter.

Any of you that don't wash your fabric prior to using it might want to rethink that. From all that has been said here I'm so glad that I got into the habit of washing my fabrics.

Cranston Fabrics are made in the US. I maybe wrong but I think it's the only working fabric mill left here. I like Cranston fabrics, I've never had a problem with any of it.

Hey y'all, QIAD Linda reminded us on another post that almost all our fabric is made in the Orient. It has been for quite some time. I wouldn't get scared about it now. Well, I'm not scared anyway because I wash all my fabrics. But for those of you who don't, nothing's changed.

I never thought about this relative to fabric. Who knows what chemicals the materials have been saturated with.

I get copies several time a week on everything that has been recalled, from toys to tools. With Christmas coming up, we need to be so careful of what toys we buy for our children and grandchildren.

I buy all my fabric from QIAD. Don't know where it comes from but it is first quality.

Yep, I pre-wash too. I should think that would take care of any problem with the dye or processing.

Hi, I just purchased a piece of fabric in Walmart yesterday that said, "This fabric was imported but printed at VIP Cranston in the USA." So obviously some one else is making the fabric for them and they are printing the design on it here. Incidently I washed the fabric and it did not bleed or discolor in any way. Marge

If you think the fabric is bad. Make sure you don't buy out of country fish. They say that is is filthy or have way too many hormones in it.
