Maike, beautiful work! Keep working on new quilts. You learn something everytime you do a new quilt. Try a small block first. If you like what you see then buy more fabric to make a baby quilt or table cloth. You can make mini quilts too. Katherine

You definitely have nothing to be ashamed of Maike. They were all beautiful.

Isn't this just about the best hobby ever. I have been at it for about 10 years and just keep on learning new things. It took me a while to really get into it. I joined a quilting guild and started a project about 3 times before the quilting bug finally bit me. But once it did, there was no stopping me.

I'm heading off to a class this morning to learn how to make a French Braid quilt. Should be fun. Now if I can just get to town without running into 5,000 bikers. The Sturgis rally starts this weekend, and there are bikers everywhere. It always scares me. I'm so afraid they will fall down in front of me or something. I usually stay away from Rapid during rally week, but sometimes it is impossible. They come here by the thousands.

Oh, I was going to mention. We had an exchange student from Germany live with us for a year several years ago. He was from Geesthacht. It was so much fun. I did get a chance to go to Germany and stay with his mother and him for a few days. It was great to be in a small town that showed me the real Germany. No tourists there. Not many people even spoke english. It was wonderful. I loved the little market places with fresh bread, vegetables, etc. My mother's family are all from Germany and all settled in North Dakota to farm way back in the early 1900's.
