The ugly duckling

Post by IowaGal » Sun Jul 29, 2007 1:48 am

My sister's 60th BD is this fall and we are giving her a suprise party. My BF is making a red hat lady scrapbook for me for her and I got through a lot of old old pics. I cannot believe what an ugly child i was, or maybe it was the hideous clothes!

Maybe you are crying because your pants don't go with your coat. I had a brown tweed coat with a thick collar. I hated that coat, I would cry every time my mother put it on me. To top it off it had an even uglier hat to go with it.

I don't see an ugly girl, just an unhappy one.

I think it is absolutely adorable. To have those years back again!

Maybe a bad sense of fashion, but not ugly. Just unhappy.

That's a cute pic, IowaGal! All you needed was to change the striped accent fabric and it'd have worked better! LOL! I have a pic of my sister and I when I was 4 yrs. old and she was about 9 mos. old, and it is truly hysterical! I think these kinds of pics are precious, thanks for sharing yours!!

We were the height of fashion with clothes like that. I remember seeing a few pictures of myself wearing clothes about like that and doing the exact same thing.

ROFLMAO! My eldest saw the pic and ran off to tell her sister to "go check out the hideous clothes!" So she is breathing over my shoulder, waiting!

Okay, I'm back now that the girls saw the picture!
I have a couple pics of myself in that state, feeling miserable at being forced to pose for a picture. I can laugh at them now, sort of. I *still* hate having my picture taken, but at least now I don't throw a fit when someone does. I have grown up, somewhat...maybe...

Funny, when I saw the "ugly duckling" title, I thought it was a quilt! I had to check it out because I thought NO WAY is Iowagal capable of making an ugly quilt! Now if you want to see some real dogs, go to Aimee Sims' website and view the Ugly Quilt Contest photos. You will NEVER put down one of your own quilts again after you see those!

Maybe we should start a discussion (or use this one) and post a baby picture or ourselves either "Ugly" or "Cute" whichever you prefer. It's fun to look back. I'll bet we all have pretty much the same outfit (and possibly the same emotional outburst).
Have Fun,
